Passing Ships

I got a text message from my partner today. It went something like this, ‘Since we’ve been like passing ships for the last few days, do you want to meet for lunch’?
My immediate thought was a resounding ‘No – I don’t have time for that…’ The voice literally screamed in my head!! I was just wrapping up one important meeting and due to head for another.
But then a quieter voice pipes up! ‘Why not?’ You see with all this pressure I put on myself to tick things off my never ending list it’s very easy to let the important things in life slip. What’s the point of financial success if you have no one to share it with?
All work and no play is not fun and actually stresses the body more making it less efficient than if it was rested. I’m learning that balance in life and time management is key. I’ve not got it down to a fine art yet but I’m getting there and I’m learning wonderful lessons on things like balance from Success University. (You can find out even more about that here).
So, today I had lunch in a garden centre and we had lunch outside! It was the first sunny and more to the point, dry day in about a week! I got back in time for my second meeting feeling refreshed and happy. Many, many, many jobs need attending to but all is well in the pure:edge world. It’s all about balance!!

Tissues galore!

OK, I feel a bit of a fraud – I strive for balance, health and overall calm but I’ve failed – it’s tissues galore and I have a terrible cold. pure:edge is all about being healthy, looking after yourself and enjoying life and I know I have a lot to live up to!
Frustrated, I’d say I’m doing all the right things – I’ve taken my supplements and … hmm what else? Scratch a little deeper and I have to admit I’ve not drank enough water (I struggle when the weather turns), I’ve not exercised at all for a couple of weeks, my sleep has slipped (I had my niece and sister-in-law over for the weekend and few late nights crept in) and my diet, well it’s not been the best since I’ve grabbed what I can when I can. Oh, did I mention my sister-in-law had a cold? Looking at it from this angle it’s all so predictable.
A lesson learned – it’s so easy to lose direction and now I’m paying the price. I’m not perfect and I’m not even trying to live a life of perfection but I know the basics and if I had stopped to notice I could have seen this one coming. You’ve got to do more than take your supplements!
The worst thing is that a sick day when you are in business for yourself is not the same as when you’re employed. A million and one things need attending to now and the buck stops with me! All I can do is weather the storm….
